In addition to keeping daily video diaries, the BACH team regarded video documentation of discussions at the place of excavation to be an essential part of recording the processes of interpretation and discovery. In this 2001 photo, project videographer Jason Quinlan is recording a discussion between BACH field directors Ruth Tringham (facing, next to Jason) and Mirjana Stevanovic (far right), and human remains specialists Basak Boz and Lori Hager (left to right, with backs toward the camera), about the interpretation of the mass of human bones that has been excavated under the northwest platform of Building 3. In addition, their discussion includes how to proceed with the further excavation and documentation of the bones. In this way, the ephemeral, but very important part of the excavation process, is recorded so that it can be revisited—for example, on this website.
